Question How high can the E string tune too on a full size violin

I know I can safely reach F# without trouble. Will it break at G or G#. How far can I go without breaking?

Just get a violin capo. Yes, they do make them.

Other than that the question is fairly well answered here:

I have to ask, why?

I play fiddle and I'm trying to think of the reason to tune up to a higher note vs. just playing up higher on the fingerboard?

OK, I guess if you had some pull off licks it that could utilize an open string higher that E it would make sense.

But I'd want to be wearing my safety googles for when that string snaps

Much past F# I would be worried about the peg slipping and letting go as much as the string breaking at the tailpiece.

Yep, no doubt. Getting there and playing it once it's there are two different things too. Add in some vibration, and the extra tension of pressing on the string. *boink*
