Digital Sheet Music
Waz Upppp...
I've been using paper now for 50 years. I've had to reinforce my 3-hole punched paper too many times. It's time to go digital!!! I think the $300-$400 range is reasonable. I don't read music, I use tabs. So... I'd like to hear from folks about what they're using and how they're using it Thanks, -Matt- Last edited by Kerbie; 03-23-2022 at 09:11 AM. I use a base iPad with OnSong. Less than $400 for the iPad and the software.

This ^. MobileSheets Pro if you want to load PDFs and an AirTurn BT-200 page turner if you don't want to swipe. Right around $250 for everything.

My printer scans to a pdf. There will be a lot of scanning in the beginning but it is worth it. Once your tunes are in Mobile Sheets organizing is a breeze. I will never go back to paper, but I do have the paper on hand for backup if there is a problem on the gig.

"Good choice, I use a lap top because I have one. My printer scans to a pdf. There will be a lot of scanning in the beginning but it is worth it. Once your tunes are in Mobile Sheets organizing is a breeze."
That was going to be my next question... How do i get all this music digitized. So you say you scan it... Can I take a picture of it and get the same result? I am leaning towards the Lenovo Tab P11 $250 at Walmart. Mike... can you suggest a page turner? MobileSheets looks like the way to go as well. Thoughts? |

https://www.pageflip.com/index.html I use the scanner on my printer for the sheet music I have. I use Fanale to create new sheet music when what is provided is barely readable, It has a export to PDF function. Sometimes I have to condense or create a guitar part from a piano part. For me as a big band guitar player and sometimes folk singer here is a list of must have software and hardware. Mobile Sheets Fanale or some other notation software Adobe - to join PDF's and convert from JPEG and other photographs Printer/scanner Page flipper

I have between 1000-2000 songs in my tablet and only 3 are so long they need need a page turner, and most all have notation as well as words and chords. I learned to get inventive with fonts and spacing between lines or between verses. I print the chorus once and just refer back to it as needed. I do NOT put chords over the words. Most are just on the notation, but there are times when I put them in front of where the change occurs (in bold and red or blue). Sometimes they appear in sequence before the line and I just rely upon "hearing" when I need to change. It's not too hard. I use 14 point Arial almost exclusively and it goes on a 12.9" tablet I bought refurbished. I could use a smaller one and still read it at the same distance, but I wasn't sure of this when i bought it. The notation is mostly handwritten as I found it faster than using Finale. One line, no harmony lines or bass clef. It all works for me quite well.
