Gary Hoey - Drive from Endless Summer II

Is anyone familiar with this? I tried giving it a shot today a few different ways along with Riff Master Pro and I just can't figure out the opening rhythm pattern. I haven't even started on anything else yet. I think the first note is C# and I just can't see where it goes from there. It's nice acoustic piece on The Endless Summer II album. If anyone can offer advice it will be greatly appreciated.
