Default O'Carolan - Gerald Dillon

I've really been enjoying learning O'Carolan tunes lately. Lots of twists and turns woven into beautiful melodies. They provide an excellent fingerboard workout !

The harp tunes date to the late 1600's/ early 1700's Ireland. O'Carolan was blind and was supported by well to do clients throughout Ireland. He travelled on horseback and made a living by composing tunes for his patrons.
This arrangement worked pretty well in bringing out beautiful tunes. Maybe it should make a comeback

Thanks for listening,

--Bill

That has a lot of potential. The arrangement, the sound of guitar and your precise playing are great. It just sounds a bit hesitant. If you could concentrate on the rhythm and smooth it out it would be very good. I hope you don't mind the criticism because I mean it in a constructive way.

It's much appreciated. I have a tendency to record too quickly, before I'm really ready.

Thanks very much for the input and for listening, Mike.

Nice playing on what looks to be a very ambitious song Bill. I enjoyed it!

Thanks very much Steve.

I took the arrangement and changed it around a lot, trying to create a sort of echo effect with the repeated phrases. However, even though I had it down pretty smoothly in practice, I don't think I did the tune justice after I had that camera rolling (a common problem for me!).

Anyway, it is so helpful to have constructive input here - it's hard to objectively critique my own work.

Very nice, Bill. Your guitar sounds great and this piece sounds fairly complicated...at least much more complex than anything I would play!!

Bill, I've really enjoyed all these O'Carolan tunes you've been doing lately. I agree with Mike... this one doesn't sound quite as smooth as the other one you have up right now, but you've done a good job. I tend to always think they are better performances than you seem to give yourself credit for. You do a good job with some really challenging fingerstyle arrangements. Keep it up!

Love that Collings!

Bill,

Beautiful and pristine on a complex tune buddy. Tho you play it with precision I would agree to maybe relax a bit and feel it more. Bill you know I want your Collings by now right? Love it bro, soundin' good as always!

ps I'd like to be the lil' Army guy sittin' next to ya just listening to you play all day.
