Default I Need You - SOTM #2 (original song)

Well, the end of February is upon us, so I figured I'd better get this song finished and posted so I can share it here. I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been hanging around here nearly as much as I normally do. Funny though, I have no idea what's been filling the time...

This month I put the finishing touches (more like finishing punches) on a jazzy-bluesy kind of tune that I've been sitting on for a while. I finally found the right words, I think, and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. It's not a really complicated song, and it's only slightly less repetitive than last months, but I think it works for what it is.

I Need You - Kyle Scobie (original)

Lyrics are in the video description so you can follow along if you don't want to see my funny faces (I think there are a lot in this one)
Playing the Taylor, as usual. I've got it tuned down 1/2 step as it's pretty high. Could have gone down a full step, but whatever. I see this as another baritone song, once I actually own one...
Anyway, enjoy!

Bel isi,
-kyle

PS - my cover SOTW will be landing early next week, stay tuned!

Very nice tune bro-Sco...has a very Mayeresque vibe goin' on in that it feels comfortable, cool and relaxed with a sweet croon to yer girl. Nice chording and your vox always soulful.

Kyle, WAY cool! I love the chord progression and melody line.
(spoken in smarmy wine-taster's voice);... I detect a hint of John Mayer, with undertones of Vertical Horizon...
In other words, I love it. You've got some song writing chops, brother.
Edit: I'd love to hear a full blown studio version of this one.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Great tune, Kyle! I love the chord voicings and your guitar face is even better than the last original.

Really enjoyed this Kyle. It works very well. I hear some early Cat Stevens and Neil Young in this one.

Nice composition, playing, and singing!

Really nice Kyle. I really like that the the soulful performances we all enjoy about your covers, has found its way into your writing! Nice song.

Really enjoyed that Kyle. Its a nice, well worked out arrangement and has a nice groove to it. Always good to get the foot tapping when a listener, gives you a good start.

I also liked the fact that you didnt hold back on the vocals this time round, unlike on your first effort. You have a very rich voice and its great to hear it shine here.

Overall it kept my interest, soulful, and keep it going man !

ps: those strings were pretty worn, werent they ... but i sort of dig the tone of them on the Taylor, kinds a but dirtier, bluesier ... dare I say it, Gibsonish ..? ;-)

Nicely done, Kyle. I really enjoyed the tonal quality of your voice, as well as your phrasings. Like another poster mentioned, I detect a touch of a Cat Stevens quality. And yes, you do have a great "performance face"!

Very nice, great to hear the second one from you. Well written - and played - that little melody you do on the guitar in the bginning is just great, love it!
