Re. sitting position, Clive Carroll manages like that, but I'm sure many would suffer. I reckon that playing on the right leg has advantages too, mainly that the first position is closer to the body and you don't need to stretch. Have you thought about a Dynarette cushion to raise the guitar? Jonny

When I was studying to be a violinist I played 7+ hours per day, so posture and technique were very important. Now, I do this for fun...20 minutes here and there is about it. The challenge for me is remembering the tunes and putting my fingers on the right strings! If I end-up trying to play the Bach Sonatas and Partitas, or arranging some Paganini then I might have to reevaluate this...but I imagine there's more chance of you seeing me playing wearing my dinner suit than there is of me using a guitar cushion!

Another example...
As I'm starting to get used to the guitar I'm enjoying what it offers more and more.
Here's another little ditty (excuse the fluffs please) which show give a little bit more idea of what it can do (even if it gives no idea at all of what I can do!). https://youtu.be/YNVMebQKeRk

What a lovely addition to your guitar collection! I owned and played a Kenny Hill Crossover in Engelmann and EIR. It had a French polish finish as well and I loved feeling the vibration of the entire instrument when I played it. I also used the high tension strings with the carbon trebles. I landed on Hannabach Goldins but I would substitute a Savarez G string because it just sounded better.
Congratulations on your new guitar and enjoy the process of getting to know each other. Thanks for sharing the video and your beautiful playing. Best, Jayne |

Congratulations and thank you for creating this thread. It was fun watching this guitar come together. It certainly turned out beautiful. I am wishing you all the best on your journey into the world of nylon strings.

IMHO choice of nylon strings is a minefield, with many pro players mixing different sets/types/manufacturers on the same guitar. Cheers, Steve |

I am really sensitive though to balance, so I swapped-out the 3rd string for a Saverez HT wound string which seems to give perfect balance from string to string. I also have got a set of ProArte composite core that will go on next (and a roll of fluorocarbon fishing line...) I guess this will be a journey, so all suggestions gratefully received!

Thomas Fellow composes great music... good job. How about one of the upbeat ones from the 'Fingerfood' suite on your new guitar?

Just a quick post to say that I got to play this guitar recently:
Very impressive. Easy to play, very well made, and a definitely modern tone, which is exactly what Adam asked for, i.e. lots of clarity, separation, and projection. I found it a little tricky to play (as did "jonnymosco"), but that's because we're devotees of the full-fat nylon guitar. For those seeking a crossover instrument, this would be perfect and the price was crazy good for a sole-luthier, handmade instrument from someone with a great reputation. Highly reccomended. Cheers, Steve |
