As a tool for playing live my absolute limit is £2K, ( which I paid for a used J-45 custom shop) and as 99% of my live playing is an acoustic though an amp I prefer the under £1000 range. Not too fussed on solid or laminate. I have become a j45 fan purely because it does exactly what I want and maintains that sound both amped and acoustically ( Trance Audio PUP)

I don't shake my head at any particular price level. I shake my head (and clench my teeth) when I compare NZ prices with US (or even UK/EU) prices.

I never thought I shook my head at any guitar prices but I suddenly find myself shaking my head at a limited edition $8000 Furch.
