Default starting to develop!

Things seem to be moving forward.

Here we are having some ideas about rosette materials. Simple...plain...subtle.

No, I said this was going to be something new.

Mind you, Steve did say that the rosette may be a little fiddly to execute cleanly!

Default After a week away from the workshop...

Steve is back on it again.

Reinforcement rods being fixed in to the neck. Interestingly these are made of rosewood on this guitar.

Here's the finished thing:

Modern on the outside, traditional on the inside.

Cheers,
Steve

Traditional(ish) yes. But I don't have a problem with the classical sound...just the feel and the look, so this should fit the brief perfectly!

Default Problems...

No, nothing that's really a problem just that when you work with someone who is prepared to experiment you sometimes struggle to make-up your mind...

Well, I do.

So Steve, ever patient, has tolerated me swapping and changing.

So, time for a new rosette methinks...something more modern...

Default On to carving the heel.

I wanted something more akin to what you might find on a modern steel strung guitar rather than a classical, so what better inspiration than my Tom Sands OMc for this…

I love the simplicity and the modern look of this.

Default The headstock is a biggie to decide on.

I love the vintage Martin headstock, not this abominations that came in during the ’50s but early ones so I asked Steve to do something similar to that.

Delicate in size, simple lines, lacking in any fuss…elegant.

This is starting to come together beautifully.
