Default Mark O'Connor

Just curious if anyone has listened to some of Mark O'Connors recent stuff on you tube? He certainly hasn't lost his touch.
this first one just blows me away - he is playing his 1945 Herringbone with 20 year old strings on it, and it sounds just luscious!

Mark understands the importance of giving the strings time to open up.

Oh yes, this guy is mega talented.

Many of us here in the Pacific NW became fans back in the Seventies when he splashed onto the scene as a 14 year old.

I had lost track of his career in the 90s-2000s (apparently he took time off due to hand strain). Then he and his wife Maggie killed it during Wintergrass 3 or 4 years back. What a fantastic surprise!

Check out the Mark O'Connor band, and see them if you get a chance. Unreal amount of talent and perfectionist arrangements.

Seen Mark play many times over the years - most memorable was the '91 Watson Festival (now Merlefest) with different configurations of other musicians. At one point, he was playing an acoustic and to this day it may be the best live sound I've ever heard at a large outdoor venue.

His son Forrest is a member here, and we chatted about that. I can't remember which guitar he told me it was, but I've never heard anything like it.

I bought the "family album" about a year or so ago and really enjoy it.....the "apples" didn't fall far from the tree!

I didn't realize his son was on the boards here! too cool! I also started following Mark was back in the 70's, even then you could see the talent just sparking out of his fingertips...

I love it when talented folks simply play from the heart. This is outstanding!
