This thread is AGF gold. Apparently cussing must work as that is what my partner does when his Blue Chip falls into the f-holes on his mandolin or the tiny oval of his mandola. So let those curses rip as you shake, rattle and shimmy. Entertainment is the idea anyway. Or plant an explosive device and problem solved, true tortoise picks ought to survive if not the instrument. Another ad for fingerpicking.

Next time you have the strings off, reach in and get it.

And no hurry for that. You have to collect thousands in there before it affects the sound. (Unless you were down to your last pick.)

I think it'll be a long time b4 I restring the thing. Just bought it in December. Changing a 12 is something to procrastinate about....almost as much as dieting.

Default ferret

I haven't done the math, but it might be cheaper in the long run to just go with taking the back off.

Hmmmm....maybe I could make some money off this. There must be a market for skinny ferrets.

I always get mine out in moments with the tried and true hop-to-the-center and execute the arcing-centrifugal-flip-and-dump method.

But seriously, my advice is to carry an extra in that little "pick pocket" in your jeans/shorts (or wallet). Lost my pick last week while settling in at an open mic. I was glad I didn't have to demonstrate my retrieval skills with a big audience (comprised mostly of other players).

Get a sound port.

This is a sure-fire way to retrieve your pick. Works every time.

1. Lay the guitar on its back.
2. Take a hose and slowly fill the guitar with water.
3. The pick will float to the top.

Yup,what he said!

However, if it is a Bluechip, don't do it on the lawn or a dark brown floor!

I take it to Gryphon in Palo Alto. In my experience having an experienced luthier is the only way to go. They can usually get it back to me within the month. $150 well spent. They even give me the pick back...

Here's another option. Buy this guitar currently listed on Reverb for $15,000.
