Hi Cuki, I hear the metallic transients from the steel strings, a kind of swishing and brashness if that's what you are referring to? Isn't this common on all steel-string guitars when played moderately aggressively with a flat pick? The strings are a vibrational blur as they're being strummed. Also, with my healing carpal tunnel, there could be some misfretting here and there. I hear it on all my guitars even when not amplified when strummed aggressively with a flat pick.

I hear it on both recordings. I think it's just the guitar honestly. Maybe fret buzz, or a string ball end not set right. I've had this happen before. Loosen strings, partially remove pins, pull up and reset strings at the bridge, make sure the ball end is up agaisnt the bridge plate and pin...push the ball down all the way while reseating the pin.

Hi Spruce,

I know but it felt more « present » than usual.

I'll look into it and post some more recordings. If this zing may be at about 6 kHz, that's where I have an attenuation of about -26 dB from gunfire along with constant tinnitus in both ears. So, basically, my hearing has a built-in notch filter at that frequency and wouldn't hear the zing if that's where it's located on the spectrum. Can you locate the frequency of the zing? Thanks.

Cuki analyzed my sound files, and between his efforts and my further listening, there's nothing wrong with the guitar or the Dazzo pickup. The "zing" from what I can hear is just my flat pick producing the zing as it contacts the strings when aggressively strumming the chords and going from one strum direction to another. If you're a finger-stylist player, this is something you'll likely not hear in your playing and may cause a note of concern when hearing these aggressive flat-picking artifacts. Thanks for looking in and more "controlled" Dazzo demonstrations, including for the first time in my demos fingerpicking examples, will be presented in a new thread.
