Cheap face lift idea! Maybe I'll call if you decide to take on clients.

Pictures are great, John.

Thanks Mary, the new Nikon P7000 really allows me to create cool images almost effortlessly.
So yesterday was find flaws and fix. As the day got longer the tools got smaller. The French Polish is really coming along. Note to anyone trying French Polish. Its like a good parent; It does not fix or hide your problem areas. But, it does point them out!
I have all? the little dings and dangs sanded out of the neck. I sanded to 1200 then sealed it with Shellac. Today I will polish to 12,000.
The top is leveling out and getting glassy.
Wow! The shimmer of the Butterfly Claw is 3D!

It looked really nice when I saw it last night, John. How much more work did you end up putting into it last night?

BTW, you guys gotta see the bearclaw that's starting to really pop under the finish!

Um, it's called Butterfly Claw!
After you left I went on eBay to see if there were questions on the Yamaha I listed yesterday. After turning down the opportunity to meet a real King while cashing his $10,000 check I went to bed.
This morning I sanded 3 spots on the top and started building up the finish in those spots. I took a look at the sides. Me and the glue have work to do!

The Stew mac medium CA glue I was yapping about was just old. I had a new one in foil, it's fine. I can't find Titebond CA thick locally. Rockler is a 70 mile round trip. I ordered it on line. Woodcrafter Supply worked out to $3.00 a bottle cheaper. About 25% less.
The corrections and tweaks and tools are all getting smaller. Every time I think I have found everything I sand it out, throw on some Shellac and then oh'.
Today I am going to destroy a few files roughing out my Nut and Saddle. That 84 Ninja Cow Bone is like sawing through steel . More sanding, glueing, sanding, shellacing, sanding, glueing (Twighlight zone music please)
Also today is a kido's school project. We are making a Balloon powered car. I bet my kid is the only one that shows up with a car made from Bamboo, Indian rosewood and old CD's. We will probably have to do 2 so he gets to do some

Don't listen to him if he tries to blame me for that thumb nail.

Gracious, Mary -- I thought you'd be volunteering to come over and do the French polish work for John! I recall how much you enjoyed all that French polishing exercise on the McKnight guitars...

Mum's the word, Neil.

Kurt, I do love the "look" of a good French polish. It just takes forever to make it as pretty as I want it to be. Next time, you can join me!

The action / the neck is to an old guitar I am selling. Beat up fingers, not sore.

French Polish is slow. I put in 20 minutes 4 - 5 times a day. The back and front are sanded up to 1000 grit sandpaper. Sides are at 600.
I picked up an orbital buffer and some Meguiars Show car glaze #7. I have some questions out there to friends before I take that next step.
I never finished the French Polish on build #1. This one is a French Polish.
The cool thing about French Polish. I can always add on and finish #1.

Couldn't Polish today. It was -9 degrees this morning. The shop heat was down too low.
At this point I can only work on her a few minutes a day. Then the guitar has to rest.
So, I started build #3. It is a commission so I put the post in Custom. Its not a DIY. So, till we come up with a Do It For Someone Else category DIFSE

French Polish is slow. Compounded by temperature swings that effect the shop. So, things have gone slow. Which is really for the better in my opinion. The longer the Shellac has to rest and harden can't be bad for it.
I got up to 2500 grit, then I stiffed her. At first I was not that impressed. Then this started to crawl out of the finish as it hardened.

Starting to rough in the frets
