Larrivee with 'toasted' top?
Well, I know torrefication is popular in certain segments, but this popped up on my eBay watchlist:

Apparently it is going up in worth as the weeks go by  From the description: "First, someone took a wood burning tool to it, it looked ridiculous! Wasn't worth replacing the top so I sanded the top. The top is a little thin! Then I " Toasted" the top, which made it hard. After that I put several coats of lacquer on to protect." I think this is a GAS-reducer...

Gordon, when I saw the thread title I thought it meant that Larrivée had jumped on the torrefaction bandwagon and had started making guitars with torrefied tops. Instead, it's truly sad to see the damage done to this instrument.
There's no accounting for taste, I suppose. whm

The ad copy could probably be translated to "Me & some buddies went camping with this guitar and we were playing it by the campfire, but we got a little bit toasted and the guitar looked like this when we woke up hung over the next day."

I would venture that it's sound is a little on the crisp side. Anything is possible on EBay.
