What a nightmare!

Whenever I play weddings, I ask for a non-refundable deposit at the time of the consultation. The rest of it is due 2 weeks before the wedding day. I hate playing them, but the money is really good. It's been a couple of years since I played one, and I don't miss them.

Thank God I'm not a gigging musician.
This is because of two reasons:
1) I hate stairs
2) I have no talent.

Great story!!

As the old saying goes, being a working musician is really more like owning a small moving company, where you get to play a little music in between jobs.

Sorry for this horrible experience and hope you get the check (and it clears!). Glad you survived and that you have time to recover soon.

Every pastor I know tries very hard to talk the loving couples out of an outdoor wedding. Most don't listen...and so these types of gigs happen.

Sorry for your experience, but I learned early on that too many trips to move gear meant too much gear.

Thanks, I thought I was the only one who got sucked into this situation.

We played a meeting for two years in a row where they wanted us first in a meeting room, then in a dining room, then back in the meeting room. Then we had to wait around while they did speeches and awards using our PA. (We brought two PAs)

I put my foot down after the last gig - NO to next year’s meeting.

That's an amazing (and unfortunate) series of events. Please let us know when you learn more about the Netflix show, so we can see you and this wild event.

I’ve played enough wedding gigs to know they pay well but are a PITA to do.

Your gig sounds like one of those where you start to question why you are doing it.
Glad you and your gear survived.
