I was asked to restore and master an historic concert from reel to reel.

It was a good thing that I own a consumer reel-to-reel deck!.

So... you can read more, HERE.

It's funny, we went through a period at the end of last year where we did half a dozen tape transfers. We did 1 the previous 3 years. Go figure.

And we use a dehydrator, too.

I have a bunch of old 1/4, 4 tract tape that someday I hope to transfer over to Digital.

Please share the Baking process using a dehydrator : Brand name of Unit? Did you build conversion Box, or use the box of the dehydrator?, Amount of time?

I use to dry wood using the top of a food dehydrator (which had a fan and a lightweight heating element) and put it on top of a larger plastic bin.

I wrote an article describing the process and giving the 3M recipe that is on my site, HERE. Any air dryer with thermostat and timer will do but the round ones will typically accept a ten-inch reel. Be sure to do your baking outdoors or in a garage because the dryer will out-gas some pretty ugly fumes.

You know, if vinyl is really gonna make a come back, shouldn't reel to reel be coming back, too? After all, didn't any serious audiophile record the vinyl to reel to reel to avoid damaging the vinyl?
