please help me identify this old takamine!
hello I am new to the forum first time posting. I could really use some help identifying and the value of this old takamine. It would seem simple enough. I have the serial number and the model number but when I search this it’s
not the same guitar. It is incredibly similar with only one noticeable difference this guitar has a cutaway and I can’t find any other instances of this anywhere on the web. I’ll post pics and would be very great fun to anyone with knowledge of this 78 takamine c-136s with a cutaway. It’s also interesting that other versions of this guitar the model number is very clear but in mine I had to zoom way in to be certain and there is a hyphen in my guitar which isn’t present in any other pictures I have seen. Is this guitar basically the same value as a classic c136s without a cutaway or what? Any help would be great thanks for listening. s61.photobucket.com/user/Teedster/media/FE46D1F8-7BC5-4D4A-8BC4-FBF1995BB27A_zpskzb7wxmx.jpeg.html] s61.photobucket.com/user/Teedster/media/68DF4B46-AEAA-42C2-B246-CAA191BB43A6_zpswg4mxs6l.jpeg.html] s61.photobucket.com/user/Teedster/media/F0D2E3DF-D4BD-49AF-BFFE-EAB777B049D4_zpsxjoca7sk.jpeg.html] s61.photobucket.com/user/Teedster/media/F336137D-BBA6-4A03-8CF5-937EC706E1DC_zpsjawah9ee.jpeg.html] s61.photobucket.com/user/Teedster/media/65BE4745-D6DA-4EAE-8BE6-C170C993E206_zpsfmxm9z5a.jpeg.html] Last edited by Teedster; 08-10-2019 at 05:57 PM. First I'm no expert and things more than likely have changed over the years.
I appears to be a left handed guitar. The Takamine I have with a cutout and all I have seen in the store the point or horn is rounded. This one comes to a sharp point. Wander if someone had luthier add the cutout. Like I said, I'm no expert. But it is interesting.

I can tell you the mountain on the label is not Mt Fuji - it represents Mt Takamine in Japan, the original guitar factory was based in the foothills of Mt Takamine and they adopted the English spelling as their brand name.

Yes you are correct it is a left handed guitar and thus the reason I’m looking for the value. Because I can’t play it otherwise I would definitely keep this little gem I found at the goodwill for $6.99. It was missing one side of the tuning pegs and I just replaced it and voila. The dilemma I’m having is that the c136 s that I can find online from the same time period are going for anywhere between 800 - 1500 dollars. And I know it’s a little dinged up bit structurally it is sound and the guitar sounds great. I’m just at a loss of where to price this thing I guess I could start at 1500 and go down from there but that just seems unlikely to me and greedy considering. I guess until someone steered me different I’ll start at 900 bucks. I may be wildly off but so what. Thanks to anyone listening.

Takamine actually made guitars for an Australian company before they sold guitars world-wide under their own name.
Here's the label from an early Aussie guitar - same colour and mountain drawing but the really interesting part is the word 'conscience' is misspelled .. missing the letter 's'. This wasn't corrected until Takamine began exporting to the USA!
