Default Anxious for Atmosfeel

I'm a Yamaha fan, and this sounds good. Anticipating the sound and control, when these guitars get in stores.

The demos sound great. It looks like innovative technology, and the the three unlabeled buttons don't detract from the guitar's traditional appearance. I might get the FSX3 before the year ends, and I would sell my Yamaha parlor which is also a great guitar, but I'm one in and one out from now on.

The strumming parts all sound pretty darn good, but the lead part that comes in from 1:47 -2:01 sounds like a typical quacky piezo to me.

Hmm. Of all the demos, that is the weakest section. Maybe bad eq trying too hard to cut through the mix? Hopefully not another overhyped technology.

I have the FGX5 on order. Once I get it, I will do some recording and post it here, as well as give my review.

That's always the problem with piezo. They sound universally crap unless subjected to lots of outboard signal processing.

But if you listen to the video, the piezo pickup only transmits bass frequencies with the higher frequencies coming through the system's mic and sound board pickup. So they might have actually turned down the piezo for the lead passage.

I'm not hearing a huge difference between this system and the typical piezo systems. Perhaps it's slightly improved but, imo, it doesn't sound better than some of the aftermarket pickups that are available.

It sounds good on the demo. I’ve got off the pickup train having realised that no system comes close to the Maton AP5 but this might be a good move by Yamaha. I’ve always thought that Yamaha’s are excellent but there sound has never quite appealed to me. These might be great though.
