Default Acoustic Guitar and Vocals through EON515 or SRM450

Like the title says, I'm wanting to put my acoustic guitar and vocals through a powered speaker. Has anyone tried this setup with a JBL EON515 ($800) or a Mackie SRM450 ($500)? This is for playing in a small venue (i.e. my house).

Also, if you have any other ideas that around the same price range, please share.

-Andy

You can do that, sure. But ... invest a few bucks more into a nice little mixer (Mackie, Yamaha, Peavey) with decent preamps and at least a reverb effect and run through that to the speaker. You'll be much happier. I have a larger setup for the band, and run two Mackie SRM450 and two Behringer B212A for floor monitors. Sounds great. When playing solo, I just leave the monitors at home, use one Mackie for the main, and the other as monitor.

Hi Andy,

I have a pair of Mackie SRM450 active speakers and they do a nice job of amplifying my vocals and acoustic guitar. They're a little on the heavy side but offer good tone and can light-up a room if needs be! The JBL EON515 is a bit lighter but may not offer as clear a tone when pushed hard.

Regards,

SpruceTop

A bit more info might help .
Do you already have a mixer ? or is the powered unit going to be the entire thing ? and is you intended use only solo and in your house ? these answers will have a bering on the the solution.

+1

We use Mackie SRM450s mixed from a Yamaha mixer. Works great. As SpruceTop said, the older ones are a bit on the heavy side, but they sound great. The new SRM450 V2's are a bit lighter.
