Default Another Tuner Thread - D'Addario NS Micro Clip Free Tuner

I can't stop tinkering and there is not enough room on the RainSong headstock to install this tuner as shown by D'Addario on a Gibson (a Gibson has a lot more space between the nut and the E/e tuners). It works well, is unobtrusive, and is protected by the surrounding tuning machines. Here are two pictures:

Seems like the best solution yet and I like it better than the sound hole version I was using the last few years.

Jon;

Very nice! I would have never have thought of that positioning. Definitely a thought out of the box.

I like it, but it’s a bit of a rippo that these cost more than the clamp-on ones ....

I mean it’s the same thing, but surely cheaper to make ?

Very clever. You can see it, but the audience cannot, and it looks secure enough to keep on all the time in the case. The beauty of these vibration-sensing tuners is that it doesn't matter where they are, as long as they have good contact to "feel" the vibrations.

I have one and like it. I put it on a Martin with open geared tuners.

Nicely done! I love the finish on your guitar too.

I ain’t saying I’d have to go hungry and shoeless to affford the clip-less one.

Nevertheless , on the British market they seem to be about a fiver dearer than the clip version, the only justification being that they are “new” , different from the competition, cute as hell and we will all want one, so the market will bear it.

OK. Rant over. I’ll get a couple ordered now.

I'll bet the reason the clipless version is more expensive....is that since there's no clip to break....meaning you won't have to replace it every year...they have to charge more up front to make up for the fact that this might be the last tuner you need to purchase? Maybe?

Now I've found a tuning machine head screw on my Les Paul to do a similar install. The official install location is incompatible with my Hercules guitar stands (though fine for my Ultimate Support stands). Placement similar to my RainSong would not work due to the E and A tuning machines being very close together and in a straight line.
