Default CF guitars & SBTs

I've had my Rainsong since 2001, removed the Fishman electronics
& after a brief dalliance with a Baggs I Beam, installed K&K pure minis.

The passive system in this guitar is LOUD! Has anyone else noticed this w/SBT installs in CF guitars?

No. In fact, I normally warn the guy running the soundboard that my Rainsong has a K&K and he will need to turn up the gain quite a bit.

Nice! The sound, the playing, and the singing! I especially enjoyed the harmony at the end.

What did you do with the "barndoor," if your Fishman had that, when you removed the original pickup?

Thanks! Yup, that's my little OM1000 de facto bari, just a-rumblin' around...

Note on the harmonies: I can sing pretty well with myself, but Randy Rood's use of Autotune the way it's supposed to be used really made 'em!

I sold the Fishman package many years ago; somebody got a great deal on that.

i wasn't asking about the Fishman, but the hole where it used to be - an upward facing soundhole?

I installed a Schatten HFN passive SBT in my Emerald X30 and the output is clearer, cleaner, crisper and louder than my Anthem equipped Gibson acoustic. I absolutely love it!

I have a Schatten in a wooden parlor guitar, but I've been curious what one would sound like in one of my Rainsongs. Alas, I haven't performed the experiment (yet).

They have a newer version now. I emailed them a month or so ago regarding the rosewood base on the pickup, and they told me they're now using a 3D printed ABS base. I was worried the rosewood wouldn't last in a carbon fiber guitar, being left out all the time and all. Glad I emailed them as it helped me discover this awesome pickup. Much better for me than the Anthem system it replaced.

I did a video for some guys in another thread comparing the Anthem SL in a Gibson to the Schatten HFN (Passive) in my Emerald X30. I'll link it here in case you want to check it out:

Yep, K&K just installed in Emerald X20 has strong output. I like it.
