Default Carolina Beach ( SHAG ) Music

Anyone play Carolina Beach SHAG music ? (also popular in Virginia Beach and that whole coastal area. I have a number that I play and would like to learn more by The Embers, The Tymes, O.C. Smith, The Tams, and the list goes on and on. Would love to find a songbook with a compilation of many songs from this genre, or even music (at least chords) for single songs. Many are R&B hits and easy to find, but many are lesser known outside of the mid-Atlantic coast.

I don't play it on guitar, but I used to dance all night to it! Lots of fun.

I look forward to hearing an answer to your question. Great music!

XM has featured their ‘Carolina Shag’ station for several summers. It was a great discovery for me — sounds like there were a lot of great times on the Carolina shore!
