What 4:18 of Goose Pimples feel like
I am a huge Joe fan and just thought I would share one of my favorite Christmas songs. Very Jeff Beck like with a Joe twist...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nr_GvVy4mvs I can't wait to see him when he come to Pittsburgh in March. FYI, I am an old timer who doesn't post much but randomly stalks the forum. I really miss the old Eltjo Hasselhoff Christmas videos that he would post annually. Remember those? |

When I saw "Joe" and with passion I feared it was that Joe.

Saw him up here a month ago, great concert except for the bass guitar that overwhelmed us from time to time. He is a great player. Get on his email list however and you'll get very large emails. Today they are selling coins, t-shirts, even a cookie jar with his photo or signature.

Hmmm, bit slow for my tastes, but certainly can't fault the playing. I can fault the duck lips though

I guess I've outgrown this type of stuff. It's certainly creative and he is gifted but
it seems like it's all been done before and I've just moved on. I'd rather listen to Molly Tuttle.

I would be after young R&B or funk players before a folk singer and player but yes. This guy certainly has talent I lack but my interest in distorted guitar tone died a long time ago. Joe B has shown up in the Norman’s Rare Guitars shop videos. That’s where I got some honest respect for him. All the great stuff you can get with a music streaming subscription and on YouTube has left me feeling others got blues and rock perfected a long time ago. I’m constantly searching for new and interesting music and performances. Most modern versions of someone doing blues and rock are about like getting excited about marketing house paint. Again, I have much respect for all talented musicians but most white people doing the blues and pretty much all Christmas music have been turn offs for a long time.

O Holy Night is my favorite Christmas song. If memory serves me, it was initially written for guitar back in the 1800's by a Frenchman.

Respectfully,
"O Holy Night" is a well-known Christmas carol composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, chrétiens" written by a wine merchant and poet, Placide Cappeau. "Silent Night" is a popular Christmas carol, composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr in the small town of Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria. I am sure of the song's origin, and remember reading it was composed to be performed by guitar. |

Copied from Wikipedia - Highlighted section my emphasis. "The song was first performed on Christmas Eve 1818 at St Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a village in the Austrian Empire on the Salzach river in present-day Austria. A young priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had come to Oberndorf the year before. He had written the lyrics of the song "Stille Nacht" in 1816 at Mariapfarr, the hometown of his father in the Salzburg Lungau region, where Joseph had worked as a co-adjutor.[2] The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. Before Christmas Eve, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for the Christmas Eve mass.[3] It is unknown what inspired Mohr to write the lyrics, or what prompted him to create a new carol.[2]"
