Soundhole Pickups
LR Baggs M1A sounds like a good choice ... I used to use a soundhole pickup years ago and found it to work well ... I was wondering if any of you have experience with the M1A and how easy is it to move from one guitar to another ... pros? cons? Other soundhole pickups that give good results and are easy to move to other guitars ...
Thanks.

The one I'm using is the EMG ACS. So far, very good.

I have a friend who uses the M1A, and he's pretty knowledgeable. He likes it a great deal, mainly for the sound.

I have owned a few M1's and like the sound a lot. The downside with them is they are very microphonic so if you hit it with a finger or a pick, you get an annoying high pitched pop.
In that price range, I would go with a Fishman rare earth. One of my friends has the misi and likes it a lot. I've heard good things about the Duncan magmic but I've never heard one in person. IMHO, the best is clearly the Sunrise but it costs a lot more and does have its own issues. |

I have M1A's in two different guitars, Martin D-35 and a RainSong hybrid dreadnought, both because I really like the sound.
As far as switching them out with other guitars, it is relatively simple: just loosen two screws and slip the pickup out and disconnect the cable. To use the same pickup in separate guitars, you would need an extra jackstrap, assuming you installed endpin jacks. Hope this helps, Ray

Soundhole pickups
I've used the M1 active. The clicking noise when you hit it with a pick drove me crazy. But the sound quality is great. Went to the Fishman active Humbucker. Not powerful, but transparent, clean, and no clicking pick noise.

I've tried a bunch and still think the Lawrence A-245C is one of the best.
