Default Test driving a Guild with some classic country

I'm deciding whether or not to keep a guitar I just picked up for a test - a Guild Jf-30. It seems to have a decent amount of bass and sweet highs, but not sure if it has the natural volume I'm after. I tried it with a Merle/George tune off of one of my favorite albums - Taste of Yesterday's Wine.

Superb voice and beautifully played.
Guitar tone was certainly there but I would have preferred just a little more volume.
Really well done.

Glad to "see" you back here again, great performance. I don't really listen to much country but your voice just locks my attention in.

As for the guitar, you might be better off with a Martin dread or a well broken in Gibson J45, although the Guild does sound nice and adds a touch of sparkle, where a Martin dread might come off as too dark. Play some and demo more here.

Why ain't you famous?

Thanks, guys.

I agree, Barry. This guitar sounds really nice for light strumming but I much prefer singing with my D28.

Famous - not for a lack of trying ;-)

I liked the sparkle of the guitar part myself. Given your vocal timbre I thought it made a good match, but that's a matter of taste, which differs.

As already has been mentioned the entire performance is very very good.

Once I got over how well you were putting the song over what shocked me was how good the recording seemed sonically to me with what appears to be an untreated domestic bedroom. I can't figure that out.

HI Brent,

Well done! I thought that guitar sounded great with your voice.

Thanks - and that’s a great album name. Untreated Domestic Bedroom ;-)
