Tonedexter send/return
I read in the pedalboard thread that James May uses the send return as a second input for a mag pickup. I would like to do exactly that by switching between k&k and a mag running through a stereo cable into a ABY switch.
Does the cable into the send return have to be wired to ring only...hoping James will see this as it could offer further options to a great product |

Yes, I do this on my pedal board. I have a mag pickup on RING, and Ultra Tonic (SBT) on TIP. The TRS cable feeds a simple splitter that sends TIP one way, RING the other way on separate 1/4" mono output jacks.
The TIP signal feeds into ToneDexter for natural acoustic tone. The RING signal feeds an electric guitar signal path including a distortion box, amp simulator, etc. Then, there is an A/B switch box who's output goes to the effects return connection of ToneDexter (the RING on the FX TRS jack). The A/B switch box can then switch between A - acoustic path (fed from TIP on Dexter FX jack) and B - electric path (fed from the end of the elec. signal path pedal chain). The advantage of this configuration is that both signal paths end up at Dexter's outputs - 1/4" and XLR DI, and both are subject to the same MUTE/TUNER features inside Dexter.

Thanks James for prompt response, this is exactly what I was looking for..recently sold a black angel pickup because I was not aware this could be done. I will have to re purchase!
Really like the tonedexter and am still varying positions of oktava mk012 for incremental improvements to tone . Dan |
