RIP Jim Lehrer
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/press-r...as-passed-away
I remember him since I was a kid interested in the Watergate hearings, and he was one of the people including my dad who helped make me a news and pursue the news junkie.

He set a good precedent and standard to follow in the field of journalism in terms of objectivity and fairness to all sides. One of his mottos was: "I'm not in the entertainment business".
Not too many of his peers, if any at all, are following that example. It's unfortunate for all of us. On a side note I understand that his cohort Robert MacNeil is still alive, at 89. I thought he had also passed.

OUTSTANDING real journalist! So very few, if any, are examples of his ilk!
No one knew his political stance as he provided objective news. Maybe people of his quality and expertise aren't wanted by our current "MSM". Viewers are getting fed up with the outright devision and stark polarity (BOTH sides) of the TV offerings now---- that seem to be chasing ratings with their 22 minutes/half hr, in the entertainment business, but first, a word from our many drug/insurance sponsors! Oh yeah, quit it already with your ad blockers on the internet news outlets. Fog |

I remember studying for my doctoral qualifying exams; we had an oral exam in which we could be asked any question about any topic at all, inside or outside of my field. I had heard that there would be a lot of political and historical questions, so for over a year I watched the Jim Lehrer News Hour to prepare. I always liked how he presented the news.
