I learned this prelude tuning the bottom 4 string of my guitar to cello tuning..C,G,D A..

Sits and sounds much better than the dropped "D" version in the tab referenced above..

Give it a try..I think you'll like it..

You can actually watch videos of cello players to pick up fingering and phrasing ideas..

Man I miss Michael Hedges...I was so very fortunate to see him play live three times over the years. Amazing performer and such a sad loss.

It sure is nice to have the extra low strings when playing the Bach cello suites. Here's Goran Sollscher with his ten-string guitar:
