SE Electronics GM10?
I've done a few searches here in the forum but can't seem to find much info on this clamp on mic......
http://www.seelectronics.com/GM10.html Did anyone ever try one for recording? Everyone seems to go for the DPA 4099 but they are an absolute fortune here in the u.k......prices on the SE GM10 seemed to have dropped.... Any thoughts? Rob(uk) |

The sE stuff is nice and makes a change from the mass-produced Chinese products that have poor quality control.
We use DPA4099s here at the theatre where I work, and looking at the clamping mechanism on the sE it looks really cumbersome - I've used the DPA when gigging and the mechanism is light and unobtrusive. The mic capsule on the 4099 is supported by its own little isolation mount so transmission of unwanted sound is minimal. Another advantage of the DPA4099 is that once you have one mic you can buy other clips for different instruments. We have four mics but can fit the mikes to sax, guitar, strings and one pair have magnetic mounts for grand pianos, and we plan to get fittings for clarinet and flute! The sE is limited, as far as I can see, to the sE clamp mechanisms. On the other hand you mentioned it for recording. Yep, nice stuff, but if you can find the extra £100 (check thomann.de) you may well find yourself using it for more than just recording.
