Martin Classical Guitar 1976
I have a 1976 Martin 016 New York Concert series guitar passed on to me by my uncle.
Any information on this guitar? It's in great condition with a few wear marks from use. She sounds sweet but tuning problems |

I had one of those of the same vintage, IIRC. No back binding or purfling,
right? It was nice, but had a buzz that I couldn't sort out. |

Some new strings will make you both feel better. Just like wives these gits sometimes need SPECIAL attention to get back in the groove! GOOD LUCK.

Back around then we got a big income-tax rebate and treated ourselves to new guitars. I got a D-18, and my wife chose a very similar guitar to yours, but I forget the model designation.
Very plain nylon-string model that went for about 500 bucks back then. (My D-18 was 600....) Great sounding little guitar.... My wife used it for self-acompaniment for the sorts of “folkie” songs we were doing back then. |

My uncle said he was in a resale music shop on Main St in Denver and saw what a beauty the guitar was. That case alone is pricey these days. What is an income tax rebate? Har har.
Nice folksy guitar for sure. The sound is pretty and I recently got an acoustic amp and wow. Very cool |

Yeah those were really more of a folkie guitar then a classical. They are braced very strangely, I cannot quite remember exactly how (I think I took a picture once) but it's not like the traditional fan braced classical or even like any contemporary classical designs.
Cool guitars non the less though. |

Martin's 0-16NY was built with Martin's X bracing, just like their steel string guitars. It really isn't a classical. Most folks just string them with Silk&Steel though they can also handle regular light gauge strings.
