Yeah, this is a book about the acoustic guitar that has been featured in Fretboard Journal, Acoustic Guitar Magazine and The Sunday Times.

I have it too--#96/300! Some very dear friends sent it to me for a "momentous" birthday. I had recently read about it and watched the video and the gift came as a great surprise. Really nice book! And interesting.

Looks to be an interesting book, but £200???

I guess I'll just wait until I can get it on Kindle!

Yeah that won’t be happening. It’s a limited run with no digital download.

Default The Devil Is In It guitar book

I purchased a copy of The Devil Is In It: A Story of Love, Obsession, and the American Acoustic Guitar by John Stubbings. I read about it in Acoustic Guitar Magazine and being both a book and acoustic guitar lover, I decided this was my Xmas gift (and my new Martin, after years of saving).

This is a beautifully bound and rich book. Lots of details on the history of and the author's history with the acoustic guitar, hand-drawn artwork, hand bound cover... really great, heirloom quality book! John was great to deal with over email once I purchased the book, helped set up shipping. And the book arrived from the UK with the best shipment wrapping I've ever seen for a book. You can see more of the book on John's website.

Maybe not for everyone, it wasn't cheap. But for a handmade book (literally), it has amazing quality and was worth every dime. It's also a pretty fun read (savoring it, but then read 50 pages over lunch)

That is a beautifully crafted book. I hope it reads as good as it looks. Enjoy!

Thanks for the post....looks like an AMAZING book!!! Geez wish I could afford it.....wonder if they will publish a copy that is not signed and with all the bells attached as I would love to read it!! Sounds weird as we are talking about a book and not a guitar, but some more pics would be nice

I talked to the author about this on facebook. I asked if a less fancy paperback version would ever be released and he said no, it was put together as a coffee-table book/display piece and that this would be the only format.
