Default sustaining vibrato

I'm working on Villa Lobos Prelude #1, which uses a lot of vibrato. The melody is in the bass, and the treble is a 3-note chord that is played repetitively.

The bass note is played with a vibrato. I'm having difficulty sustaining the vibrato WHILE I am playing the chords. Does anyone have an suggestions for tackling the technique of continuing to play vibrato on a note while playing other notes?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Paikon linked an excellent vid.

Playing the melodic bass line separately, focusing on the vibrato and deciding exactly how you want it to sound is helpful... then try to keep that same sound when you add the upper chordal part.

Also, singing the bass line of Prelude 1 when practicing helps to clarify the line in the mind and tends to develop a natural expressive feel and articulation of the line.
