Default Flower of Magherally - Furch Yellow Gc-CR

Here's a run through with my new Furch. I've had it for 10 days and I'm not too crazy about the Elixir 12s on it. I ordered some Elixir HD 13-53. If that doesn't work out I'll try Pierre Bensusan's DADGAD strings on it.

It’s nice Barry, good job

Guitar strings for the DADGAD are really a matter of taste and depending on the guitar.
I've played with the HD Elixirs (not great) and the Bensusans are a bit pricey for what I think they are.
I have been playing for a while with Newtone Heritage on all my guitars .....

Great sounding guitar, Barry. Nice job as always with the playing.

I’m not familiar with the Furch nomenclature...what is the wood combination and body size of the guitar?

Lovely tone, lovely playing Barry.

I personally went to 11s, Elixir PB Custom Light and I like them on the SC13E and the 000-28. I did not expect to like them as much. 12s felt too tight. 11s move the top very nicely and feel more relaxed, you'd expect.

I really enjoyed this!

Thanks!

@Rogerblair--I have almost the same guitar. It's a grand auditorium body with cedar over East Indian Rosewood. https://furchguitars.com/us/instrume...ies/yellow-cr/

I can't get the Elixirs I want right now, they aren't available. I have sets of EJ17's and I had bought single .53 strings also to replace the 56 6th strings, but I can't remember where I put the singles,

its as Aimelie pointed out. The G is the Grand Auditorium size. The small c is for cutaway.

It is sounding nice Barry - perhaps some different trebles might add something by way of a fatter tone?

Doug recommended a custom set of Newtone Masterclass with heavier trebles (13.5/18/24) and they worked really well on my GC 23. Easy to order from them.

Very nice, Barry!
It will be interesting to see where your string choices take you with this new guitar. All part of the journey!

Thanks Peter. I'm going to try mediums on it. I'm not sure I can get Newtones delivered in a reasonable time, but I'll look into it.

Thanks Fred. I had wanted to put Elixir HD 13-53 on it, but they won't be available for another 2 months.

Just in case you are interested, I also liked EB Aluminium bronze on mine (louder and more bass heavy)

I put a set of EJ17's on it, but replaced the 56 6th with a 54. I like the sound a lot better than the light Elixirs.

I'll pick up the EB's and give them a try some day. Thanks.
