The luthier signed and numbered it on the inside.
That'll do it. |

I don't want anyone signing my actual guitar - BUT I have two Gibsons with Ren Ferguson's signature on the label in the soundhole and think it's pretty cool.

Yes or No...signing your acoustic
Didn’t realize there was such an opposition to this. I have a Takamine that was signed by Tommy Emmanuel, as well as Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Buckley of the band America.
Recently got my new Furch Yellow and intend on getting that signed by Tommy at some point Last edited by Perro; 05-04-2021 at 10:52 AM. |

WhereÂ’s the adventurous spirit?? I feel like a few people may be sick sweating just thinking about someone signing their music maker.
If I had an expensive guitar that I wasnÂ’t sure was a lifer then I would obviously keep it as clean as possible but other than that I wouldnÂ’t be opposed to a little John Hancockage. It would have to be someone whoÂ’s music has been very important to me or the individual themselves is interesting. Johnny cash, Everlast, Kurt C, Charlie Manson, Hank Williams 1,2 and/or 3, Bradley Nowell |

I'd rather sign someone else's. Drop on by, no waiting

And so on, and so on... Clothing designers/manufacturers often do that, as do makers of many types of consumer goods. Some put their names, others logos. For some it is a status symbol, others advertising. Then there are those who prefer a more subtle identifier: |

No way. Next thing you know, somebody would be letting him sing...

Not my thing, but everyone's welcome to do whatever he/she wants with their guitars. IMHO there are enough other things to affix a signature to (album cover, hat, T-shirt, a photo, etc). Also, if my grandkids saw writing on any of my guitars they might just think it's OK and express their artistic selves (LOL).
Cheers! |

"Box of Rain" is a short song, man.

Official logos no problem! Signing a $150+ Salvatore Ferragamo or Hermes tie with a sharpie? Quite another story...

I’m not a fan of the practice, though I do have Bill Monroe’s autograph on one of my instruments. He’s the exception that proves the rule for me.

Bear in mind that this forum is frequented by people with a specific, conservation-minded attitude - I know I have that. Plus, we’re a self-selected group. I suspect if you talked to 100 random guitarists that the results wouldn’t be nearly as lopsided.
