Where I come from plenty of people, places & things get nicknames usually by adding a Y, A or O to the end or alike..so when I get my Maton it shall be known as "Matey"..you gotta love simplicity.

Just saw this thread referenced in another one, so I thought we could bring it back to life

I named my J-45 " The Lord Is My Banner" with the nickname of "Frankle". In my shopping for a banner-labeled Gibson, a verse in Exodus stuck out to me where Moses named a place "the Lord is my banner". It usually gets called Frankle, though

My Les Paul is named "Shema" from the Hebrew word meaning "listen!/hear" Also referencing Deuteronomy 6.

My third guitar is a kid-sized Gene Autry Melody ranch guitar that belonged to my grandmother, and I usually just refer to it as "Gene". It's kind of like a little old man of the group LOL 80 years old this fall

A Gibson I once owned was called 'The Gibby.' For some reason, the Gibson name lent itself to that affectionate diminutive in a way that no other guitar has before or since!

I don’t, but my friend who bought an Eastman E OO10 12 fret off his Craig’s list in Colorado, liked it so much that he decided to name it 007 for the 00 and a 7 in the serial number. I guess he thought the action was as fast as an Austin Martin. I will stick with that name in honor of all the trouble he went through to get it and ship it to me. Great guitar!

My kids name my guitars:

"The tree guitar" (because there's a tree silkscreened on the headstock)
"The Taylor guitar" (because it's a Taylor)
"The sunset guitar" (because it's got a lovely sunburst)
"The Martin guitar" (because it's a Martin)
"The Beatles guitar" (because it's a 65/Lennon reissue Casino)
"The rock star guitar" (because it's a Telecaster)

The 12-string is named the Twin Six after a certain Dietrich Packard.
Neither the 6-string nor the Telecaster have proper names yet, but these things are often just a matter of time.

Nope. Never done that. Like a lot of players I’ll refer to a guitar by the make or model number; my big Martin is “the D-18” while the smaller one is “the Double O.”

Just so long as I can tell them apart, that’s all that matters.
