The first time I heard that technique (and saw too) Was on one of the variety shows from the 70’s. (The snare drum sound) Jose Feliciano did a version of ‘Little Drummer Boy’ where he employed that technique.

That video was cool.

More proof that everything that is old is new again! That piece is nearly 150 years old, and has been a fixture in the classical guitar repertoire ever since.

It really speaks to Tarrega's genius that his composition is still turning heads and dropping jaws to this day.
