The majority of my performing over the past three decades has been as a solo... voice and 6 or 12 string guitars...
I've rarely wanted to "play the hits" of popular bands or artists; I choose to "dig a little deeper" and find great songs by bands/artists that folks might not have heard or have forgotten about... Like ANYTHING by the Band, other than "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "The Weight" or "Up On Cripple Creek"... so I'll play "When You Awake", "All La Glory", "Ophelia", "The Shape I'm In"... like that. With the double courses on the 12 string, I can play two note lines that give more weight to certain tunes, like "The Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys" for the bass line... I do a few Stevie Wonder tunes; both "I Believe (When I Fall In Love)" and "Another Star"... Van Morrison has about 50 records out, so anything except "Brown Eyed Girl" or "Gloria" would be good... same thing for Bob Dylan. Hard to find a Beatles' tune that hasn't been done to death, but there are some. Pretty much ANY Steely Dan tune, as they are rarely played by solo artists... I also play a lot of songs by more "obscure" artists, as well as original tunes, when they fit, but I ALWAYS play songs that I care about, that mean something to me, that I feel are important for people to remember... Doing that without "cramming" them down folks' throats or being overly "significant" is a challenging task, at times... but well worth the effort!

I think us aussies could have a field day on this thread as so many songs that were released down here in any period never made the light of day overseas.
Masters Apprentices were one of our biggest from the mid 60s to early 70s & this is probably their best known down here, particularly to those my vintage or older. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKE2hmgzUgo
