I'm thinking of getting a Bongo Cajon to use
as a footstool / foot stomper drum like thing when playing guitar. Has anyone ever used one for that? I'm thinking of getting this one from Sweetwater:
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...-super-natural Just something to add some percussion when I'm tapping my foot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP_kchRZP88&t=70 What you really need is something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stomp-Box-G...8G2/ref=sr_1_1 They come in much more (ridiculously) expensive form (google Horse Kick), or you can make your own (as a pal of mine did) using a simple slab of wood and a cheap contact mic. (You do need an amp for these things though.)

Unless you're stuck on something made of wood, spend about the same or a little more and get one of the Roland SPD One Kick units. I'd think you'll definitely need some amplification, and a unit like this, I'm sure, you'd find much more versatile. They have different kinds, too, all with two banks of ten sounds and they're all adjustable/tweakable...

Just a tip, don't let ANYONE who isn't a drummer pr percs skilled accomany you with it.
People who don't know percs assume that all they have to do is hit in , soetimes even in time ... but rarely.

A cajon is easy to make, a quick search.....
https://www.wikihow.com/Build-a-Cajon Many other examples online / youtube etc. It's made of plywood, very hard to screw it up. |

Okay, I guess I'll just get a foot stool. What I needed was something to prop my foot up with when playing my mandolin and sitting down. So I just figured if I had a wooden box like thing I could also use it also to tap my foot on when playing a guitar to get a add a little beat sound to the sound. I just thought one of those cajon's looked like a good foot tapper.
thanks, Debbie

It might sound good…or it may get irritating after a while. Can you 'not' tap your foot when you want to? I just carry around an empty case that a microphone came in rather than a footstool. I've also propped up my foot on the end of a guitar case, 3-4 books (or a couple of large metropolitan phone books) etc. I just need about 3-4" to make sure my knee is higher than my hip (so the guitar doesn't slip off). |

Kinda off topic but a bongo Cajon is nice for learning the timing of /8 /16 notes etc. and also for hand independence. And just fun to do some bongo or Carib goofing around.
The kids love them too. The LP model is nice and is about $60. And a snare or bongo book about $15 more. |
