![]() ![]() Arrived this morning and played for the better part of 2 hours! Very impressive craftsmanship. Darker than the pics. It has a figured walnut burl and amber back and sides. Very enjoyable bass "Whomp" you get from a really good jumbo. Also, a surprise how responsive it it. It seems to respond better to a lighter touch. When I really dig in with a pick it seems to choke the sound somewhat like in a small body. Anyway, I am very happy on Day One and no buzzing as per a previous thread. I've had my Kevin Michael Sable for five years to compare and was intrigued with the jumbo body reviews. It does not feel like a 17" lower bout with the various contours. Pics are courtesy of the emerald USB card. ![]() Last edited by Quake17; 03-11-2021 at 01:41 AM. |

That is beautiful - congrats! How does the sound compare to your Sable?

Thanks! Bigger, bassier sound than the Sable. To be expected versus the OM size though. I think the CF tone is in the same ballpark? It certainly has a different aesthetic to the Sable!

I am glad your guitar was well set up. We have similar opinions about the X30. Of course I don't own a Sable, so my comparisons relate to my Taylor.

Yes - the instruments are far darker in real life. They use a lot of light in those shipping vids and glamor shots.
Still beautiful though! 100% agree, the low end kick is like a punch in the eardrum when you first hear it, and I do agree with the "delicate" response. Sometimes it almost drowns itself out if you try too hard. Love the burl! Like you're looking into the atmosphere of Jupiter.... |

That is gorgeous. Any chance you might post a pic in normal light? Curious how these guitars really appear vs. the Emerald studio photos.

Definitely much darker in lower light. When I opened the case it was not in any light and looked almost black. The amber is darker as well.
