I'll just say you don't really know how to play electric guitar until you can sound really good playing it totally clean (no overdrive or distortion). This is much harder to learn than playing acoustic, because all of your little mistakes and technical imperfections are amplified. There is nowhere to hide. But mastering the technique needed to do this will make you a better all-around guitar player.

On acoustic guitars I’m almost always in first position but on electric some note runs take me all the way up to the 21st fret - talk about freedom/ there’s something liberating in that.
