Default 2011 Martin 000-18GE Golden Era $2500..CLOSED

This listing is CLOSED.

Most of us know very well what this is, but I will spell out some of the highlights as I reluctantly post this gem for sale.

Available is my beloved Martin 000-18GE.
Adirondack Spruce over Genuine Mahogany.

The specs include:
Short scale length 24.9
Bone nut 1 3/4 inch
Bone long saddle 2 5/16 spacing
1/4 inch Adirondack GE scalloped bracing
Modified V neck shape

This is a well loved, unmolested original with no modifications.
There is one tiny.. and I mean you have to search for it.. "ding" on the lower side where it rests on your knee.
It’s better described not as a ding, but an “impression” in the finish.
It came from the store that way.
I finally got a picture in a reflection, but you would not see it otherwise.

This guitar is very clean and straight.
I have always played it with a sock on my arm, or a long sleeve shirt.
It's been my "number one" guitar, and impeccably cared for, never loaned or put at risk in any way.
You would be hard pressed to find one as clean and straight.
I can easily get pictures to you by email.

I recently took the guitar to my local store for consignment,
and it is there, up behind the front counter..
not on the wall where just anyone can grab it..
and they are asking waaay tooo much for it.
They sold it new to my buddy who sold it to me,
so they know it has been well cared for.

$2500 plus actual shipping and fees.
No trades at this time, as I’m liquidating/reducing my collection.
Thanks

This listing is CLOSED.

Default Another picture

Have had a couple inquiries already, and have sent pictures to email addresses.
So here’s some of those.

The last picture here shows the flaw I refer to in the text above.
It’s a very small impression in the finish, only visible in the right light at just the right angle,
and can only be photographed when caught in a reflection.
The guitar came from the store this way.

Hey, in sending pictures to an interested member,
I noticed a slight impression on the front of the headstock near the B string tuner post, just to the right.
If you zoom in on the picture below, you may see it.
Frankly, I had not seen it before.

Full disclosure rules.

Many inquiries through PM and email,
but guitar is currently still available.

(sorry pictures are sideways.. don’t know why that happens nor how to fix it)

Woodbox (Tim) is just a fantastic guy and he’s had this guitar a long time so I know it’s a great one and a great price here. A no brainer.

Thanks to RP, blindboyjimi, VJP5 and GTomcan for your comments.
And yes Tom, the OM in question is treasured by all.

And thanks for the Taylor trade suggestion.
But I’m in a continued collection reduction mode, thus this guitar is offered.
My favorites are the last to go.

An update:
As expected, I’ve received many inquiries about this Martin Golden Era,
and each have learned that Im not a “motivated seller”.
I don’t need to sell this, and if it doesn’t sell smoothly to someone I like,
I’m fine keeping it.
This is less a sale, and more an adoption.

Call me sentimental or crazy, but I treasure this instrument and no shenanigans will be entertained.
That all said, the guitar is still available.

As much as I love mine, I'm almost tempted to buy this just to have a back up.They are that good.

Hey Kh1967,
thankyou for your kind words of endorsement.
It’s always a joy to visit with you.. you, a discerning member who has experience and insight.

And thanks also to hairpuller for your comment.
I have personally done what you advocate.. a couple different times actually.. and although it was decadent, I’ve done it.

I’m a little confused about the sale here.

A current assessment of supply and demand might suggest that there are many of these to choose from, thus supply is high.
But that’s not the case.
Not a lot of these available on the used market right now.

Or perhaps it indicates demand is low.
Which doesn’t seem to fit either.

So when an item, any item, sits on the market and isn’t selling, the obvious answer is the price is too high.
It is on consignment locally at a (substantially) higher price, and like here, there’s a lot of interest there as well.
If I were to drop the price.. hmmm, let’s say $1000 or $1500.. I’d be fielding lotsa buyers.
But I’m not doing that.

This guitar’s inherent attributes, plus it’s condition, and me not being desperate to sell, dictates my price.
Even though over 1500 views and a couple dozen inquiries has not led to a sale.

I will let the listing stand for another week, and then I’ll pull it both here and the local store.
Then I’ll bring it home and work on my fingerstyle version of Silent Night.
Won’t that be sweet.

Thank you all,
and may we all be safe, warm, dry and fed.

I’m not a regular “bump my listing” kinda guy, but here we go.

This is the last day for this.

Plenty of interest, including two inquiries today.

Here’s my “last hours on this listing” bump.
