Guild T-50 Newark Series
Has anyone tried one of these? Any impressions?
I am looking real close at one. I am looking for a simple, single pickup guitar. A friend of mine has a Newark Series Guild Aristocrat m-65, that plays great and sounds great. Thanks in advance jricc |

Check out a Godin Kingpin before you buy - a few hundred bucks less than the Guild, and punches way above its weight...

Another bit of "guidance" you may not need, but the Eastman AR371CE has only one pickup. They're quite nice.

Take a day trip to Guitars 'n' Jazz over in Summit - they've got one of the better inventories I've seen - or Rudy's in Lower Manhattan...

Well I took the plunge and bought the T-50. Got a great deal on an open box and saved over $200 off the street price.
First off, it is a beautiful looking guitar. Simple controls and nice throaty sounding dog-ear single coil. A P90 of sorts. Second observation, the neck is very comfortable for me, I have small hands and like to use my thumb over the top, and for this it's great. Third observation, the pickup (mounted at the neck) is very sensitive. If I tap on the body near the bridge, or on the bridge I get a thump. Is this unusual? Any thoughts would be appreciated. |
