Martin typically slow to do anything new -but who knows-
like when everyone was using adjustable truss rods - and martin was not .

Just an opinion not factual , but i feel thats why Guilds became popular in the 1970's. ( thats when i bought my D-55 )

Yep it's $400 less than the standard.

Looking at the D-18's linked above, it looks like the Gloss D-18 comes with a dyed fretboard, and the satin ones have a natural ebony fretboard.

I'm already planning what I have to sell to make room for a satin D-18!

I like that they're offering satin finishes. Almost all mine are satin. Last thing I need is another guitar so I'm kinda glad they're not offering the smaller models (yet). Can't do dreads anymore.

If I hadn't just bought a Martin dread I'd be all over the satin D-18 in amberburst. These new models looks so saweeeeet!

Also, I just now noticed that they have a Discontinued section on their site for older models no longer sold new. That seems like a new thing but maybe I'm just now seeing it. Pretty cool feature!
