If your other guitars have scratches there then get the pickguard. A pickguard is really a practical choice. I suppose they can even look cool even if you don't need one but if you are hard on your tops then get one, otherwise don't since you stated your preference for one without it.

Just one final decision.
With or without pickguard?

I prefer without... Usualy... But this one doesn't look bad as I thought and seems to cover the nail/fingerpick area pretty well.
I'd say go with your preference (without) unless it's necessary. Do you plant a finger on the soundboard while you are playing fingerstyle? Do you ever use fingerpicks or a flatpick? Do you let other players with a more aggressive style use your guitar? How durable is the finish on the soundboard?

Another option could be a thin clear pickgaurd.

Your guitar looks great. Any more photos?

When I used fingerpicks all the time I also planted the little finger on the soundboard. And there was a lot of wear.

I'm avoiding fingerpicks right now and I don't plant any fingers on the soundboard when playing without them.
Mostly due to pain/stress on my finger joints.
But I still like the tone with fingerpicks, just not so sure on how much I'll be using them in the future.

Next week when I finally get my hands on it will take the full set of pictures, and try to record something.

On another note...
Is it easy to remove the pickguard if they are not needed?
Considering it's new, there would be no pickguard tan after removal.

In case I change my mind after playing it.

Another suggestion for a clear pickguard. I have them on three guitars and no one even notices them. I would think that might be the perfect solution for you as you can have the best of both worlds and not hassle with removal or tan lines.

Best,
Jayne

Too late!
It's already on the way.

Where do you live if you don’t mind me asking? I went on Max’s site and it’s in Portuguese.

Guess it’s hard to get anything shipped to the U.S with cites issues.

Maybe you're thinking too deep on this choice. Probably is no wrong decision, the aesthetics will be great either way. Now just focus on the tone and playability.

I live in Brazil.
From my knowledge he is the only one in my country capable of build on the international level (having visited wayne henderson and alan carruth).
You could get one shipped to the US, but not made with brw.
Any non-cites builds would be ok I guess.
Even some cites ones (in some cases) as long as he has the proper documentation to be shipped with (you should ask him).
It's probably a good season to order one considering 1 USD is around 3,7 Reais.
In total I paid 14500 reais, around 3850USD right now (desconsidering import taxes).
Would be a huge deal in the US considering the Specs.
