Still have the most attractive guitar you've owned?
You may like bling. You may consider a well used vintage guitar a thing of beauty.
By whatever definition of good looks you prefer, do you still have the most visually attractive guitar you've owned? I consider my Guild F512 to be the handsomest of them all, and still have it. I will add that numbers 2 and 3, both Lowdens, are long gone. |

I've owned a bunch of guitars, but my Emerald X20 is the best looking of the lot. IMO Emeralds epitomize the marriage/balance of form and function...

I believe I just purchased the best looking guitar I will own. A '99 Takamine Santa Fe DSF48c...just stunning southwest design inlay on the neck and around the soundhole. Will need a neck reset soon ( it is 20+years old), but the structure and cosmetics and frets are A+ shape.

The best looking guitar I've ever owned was a Gibson R7 Les Paul Goldtop. Sold it stupidly to fund a PRS purchase.

I have two of the best looking guitars in my collection. My D41 Ambertone is just killer looking on the front!
My Bourgeois Banjo Killer has one of the best looking Mahogany backs I’ve ever seen!

Nicest looking was my 2005 Gibson J-100Xtra. Lovely silked sitka and very figured bubinga. I've never seen another one like it. I sold it after 11 years. While it sounded great and the neck was perfect, the guitar was just too large for my frame. I don't miss it and the money went towards my very fine L-1. Unfortunately I don't have pictures anymore.

The "prettiest" guitar I ever owned was stolen. Fortunately it was an electric guitar that only cost $300. I replaced it with another electric guitar that cost more and though it was also pretty, it fell out of favor. Since then, all the guitars I own are pretty basic. Even my subsequent electrics have been "natural" where there is lack of shell and even sparkly finishes. My acoustics are also basic satin finished guitars.
When I see D-45s and these fancy koa Taylors I often wonder how they sound. Are they really worth thousands more because of all the fancy trim? I was so curious that I've tried my hand at luthery and I can attest that the reason such guitars are so expensive is because they are a complete pain in the keister to build without losing patience and smashing them to kindling. So now from a player's perspective I'm actually quite proud that my guitars lack bling because the finish feels light and allows the instrument to vibrate. If I want something pretty I'll buy a painting to hang on my wall.

I still have my Guild F512, which certainly is a good looking guitar. And I think my most handsome and artistic guitar is my Gerald Sheppard GA Ave Maria that I purchased used from Billy Boy on this forum some years ago. It's also perhaps the best sounding guitar I own. And my 2018 Martin D-45 is certainly a great looking guitar, as well, and I still have that.
