If you could only keep one of your guitars
which would it be?
This is a tough one for me. I'd have to choose between favourite tone and comfort/ease of playing. No wonder I keep gassing. Would probably choose tone in the end (Lakewood - cedar over rosewood) ahead of comfort (Larrivee - spruce over silver oak) because the Lakewood isn't bad, it's just that the Larrivee is perfect. I've never had a guitar that fits my body and hands so well (and it sounds righteous too). Edit: Funny. I didn't even consider about my Martin D15M. It's not a bad guitar. In fact it's a very nice guitar. When I pick it up I don't want to put it down. I love the tone and the feel of it. It's just... you know... not my number one. (Shhh.... don't tell it).

For sheer looks, comfort and playability, for acoustic it would be my Furch OM34sr. In reality though it would be my Taylor 414ce; it was a present from my wife and is my most versatile acoustic. I’d be sad if I had to let my old Guild D35 go...this thought experiment is tough...!
For electric it would be my G&L ASAT Classic, best electric I’ve ever played. My Strat would have to be considered too for its versatility. For bass, I would hold on to my Fender Geddy Lee Jazz (MiJ), an awesome bass, especially considering what it cost, best neck I’ve ever played on a bass. My fretless has Mojo to die for (Ibanez Musician) but I’d have to think about what is most useful. Now I realise that is 3 rather than just one but given I am a jobbing (sometimes!) musician I have to be realistic too!

I can’t do it.
Maybe one electric and one acoustic, but I don’t know, even that’s a tuffy

Not too many high end guitars here. My acoustic guitars right now:
Gibson L4a Breedlove Studio Hagström (no idea about the modell) Martin 000-1 Martin DM-18MD Martin OM-21 Of those the OM-21 will stay forever end ever and ever! If I could take 2, the D-18 also. From my electrics the '52 reissue butterscotch Telecaster. |

I would keep one of my 2 custom built classical guitars.
Most likely, the one that a local hobby luthier built, would stay. He charged me enough to break even, I think. The other classical costs about 5 times as much. I would have to stand guard over it, anytime I took out of my house. The others (dreadnought, parlor, archtop, bass, etc.) would be very difficult to part with. |

Even though I love all my acoustics the answer is simple. The Eastman E1SS-CLD-LTD has all my favorite elements. Awesome tone, short scale, comfort playing with the narrower upper bout then a square shoulder dread, 1 11/16 nut with an even C contour, great looks.
For my electric it would be my Schecter Solo II custom. |

I never would have thought it, but now that I have had it for
a few weeks, I'd have to keep the one on the left... -Mike Last edited by hubcapsc; 01-26-2020 at 07:13 AM. |

Not easy but it would have to be the D18.

Ask me again in about a year. My brain says the carbon fiber Rainsong. My heart says . . . don't make me do that!

That is like asking which kid is your favorite. So whatever the consequences are in this question, I would have to take the alternate as I could not do it.

Tom, that's not a good analogy - you have way more guitars than you do kids!

This sounds like the “if there was a fire and you could only grab one guitar” exercise. My Froggy Bottom is pretty much perfect, but I would have to pick the Larson Stahl. It’s an amazing instrument and just about irreplaceable

I can only say which guitar is my favorite so you take that for what it is worth. That is my 1942 Gibson J50. Finding one I liked better would be darn near impossible as only 144 Banner J50s were ever built and the only thing impossible about Banners is finding two that sound the same.
