Perhaps, Neil would rather jam with Tony or Buddy.

I had tickets for the R40 show but missed it - Lee’s voice was at the end, but unfortunately, very unfortunately, we don’t live in an age enlightened enough to accept all classic rock performed and listened to sans vocals -

I had heard the news on the radio before the thread appeared yet didn’t feel any loss - I felt like I knew him from the lyrics and writing he had done - full of integrity, a higher spirit knowing and accepting to be free

And arguably the greatest rock drummer in the world.

Been listening to Rush all weekend. Their latest album Clockwork Angels was recorded right before Neil retired. It’s actually a pretty good album.

An unfathomable 30 years ago, only a week after graduating high school, I had the privilege of seeing Rush perform live. The show was great, and I remember being in awe of Neil Peart's amazing drum skills. A few months later, as I began college, one of my freshman English papers was a dissection of "The Trees," which was extremely relevant, as we were watching the world change before our eyes. Neil was both the heart and should of the band --- the heart with his incredible drumming, and soul with his remarkable lyrics. Despite the impact on the 18yo self, I wasn't a lifelong super fan, but I always held a deep respect for their musicianship and the legacy that they built.

R.I.P. Neil Peart (1952-2020).
