Default Percussive Acoustic Composition (Rainsong JM1000)

Here is a new composition I wrote. The recording isn't live, but I figured it would be more interesting to watch than a slideshow! The guitar is a Rainsong JM1000. C4C!

That is really nice. I'm still freaked out but the complexity of percussive acoustic music. As more of a singer-songwriter type, I will say that to me sometimes the percussion give a nice finger-style piece kind of a frenetic clash of sounds. What I mean is that the finger-style guitar sets one mood and the percussion sets a different mood. I think that this piece may suffer a bit of that. I really like the tune, but would like to hear it solo or with less percussion.

Great song.

The background music and the percussion kind of drowned out the actual guitar playing though. I too would be more interested in hearing the guitar part. The accompaniment really works for the song, it was just too loud.

Very good playing, Derek! I agree with the other comments that the mix is too heavy on the percussive sound or that the guitar is just too low in the mix. It sounds like the guitar and cello are background support to the percussion which yields a track that is more of a drone than a song. IMHO, your guitar work is too good to hide beneath the other sounds.

Excellent Derek! I took the liberty of posting a link on the RainSong Facebook page.

Fantastic song and your playing is amazing. I think it is a fine combination of guitar and percussion (even if the percussion is a little heavy, but that's maybe more to do with the recording). Love the rhythms and melodies, and the background music is very nicely done with it. Really, a very nice song, I love the whole sound and feel of it.

And nice video, too (love the sharks on the guitar, by the way, pretty cool).
