It sounds good but it has too much bling. I prefer a Martin D-1 Authentic.

So Martin has accomplished what they set out to do: build fanciest guitar they can (based on a tried and true design), stand back and let the discussion-outrage-lust-disgust-reverence-disdain begin. As some smart person once said: "Ya just can't buy that kind of publicity!" Good for you, Martin!

As Panic! At The Disco once said, Too Weird To Live, To Rare To Die.

Not unlike a train wreck, I couldn't look away.

If Hunter S. Thompson were still alive he might be outraged with someone attributing this quote to Panic at the disco!

Agreed, but it was one of their album titles, so I take no blame...

I didn't think it looked good - but maybe a little better than the shirt the guy was wearing? And at the same time, I don't know if it was just the recording level a little too high, but it didn't sound that good to my ear either. A little boomy and almost distorted.

The guitar is a work of art that not all appreciate. Picasso also had detractors.

Thanks for posting, the guitar sounds as good as you would expect in an audio clip.

Sounds good but....if the decimal point were moved about 5 places to the left, my money would still be in the bank.

Different strokes I guess.

That shirt, and two sparkle-orange Telecasters in the background. I like it! The first $100K that shows up in my guitar budget goes to Martin!

I've seen uglier, but dang, Matt's hair looks so soft.

That's exactly right. It’s not a guitar designed to please the forum. It’s a very limited run with expectedly almost the opposite effect. I’ve seen it in person and can say it is a spectacular show of work. But that doesn’t mean I’d ever remotely consider buying something like that, even for a steal. Love it or hate it, it’s still a work of art.

I was surprised at how mellow and pretty it sounded. I didn't understand the whole concept. Why guitar and clock parts, I mean?

It’s meant to be steampunk and of the moment. Steampunk is a currently popular movement affecting the arts, comic-con participants and science fiction fans. At this moment if you’re not familiar with steampunk it seems odd; I suspect that in 20 years it’s going to look extremely dated.

Personally I found the person playing to be quite limited in terms of ability, and suspect that the guitar can be made to sound noticeably better in more talented hands. As it stands, it sounds okay but nothing special. The video certainly doesn’t make me want to rush out and buy a Martin D-200....
