I wish that I could change my vote to two.

Every guitar that I have acquired over the years was for a specific reason - new tone, new wood, different body size or shape, baritone, etc. Now that I have figured out what works best for me, I am downsizing, and sold five acoustics and one electric in the last two years with four more to go. The least expensive (but still decent quality) guitars will get donated to Guitars for Vets or some deserving youngster when I finally get tired of storing them. At this point, I'm tired of humidity care and keeping somewhat fresh strings on all the ones that I have, most of which do not get played more than twice a year.

I have 6, 2 electrics, and 4 acoustics.

That's enough for me.

Pretty convincing proof that the AGF is collectively an outlier when it comes to guitar-playing demographics: the number of people who own 30+ guitars outnumbers those who have just one.

Just what's in my signature as well - I play the acoustics once to twice a week.

I must confess - it's been years since I played the electrics.

I could see some additions in the future. I probably will play electric again in the next few years.

Once a vote is cast. Don’t think it can be changed. But mentioning it here is good enough.

Hi Earl49, I remember when I just joined AGF 1 and a half years ago. I asked about Koa guitars and you mentioned in that thread that you “have a soft spot” for Koa guitars. Just curious only. Are there any wood Koa guitars left in your collection?

Too cool. I voted 17 when this poll first surfaced and today I have 32 with the Ibanez jazzbox that I recently acquired.

I checked to make sure I hadn’t posted already on this thread (I had) but thought I’d share this observation—

Lately when someone asks me how many guitars I have, I realized that now I answer, “Three—two Martins and a Taylor.”

I somehow forget about the Tele and the two beaters now.

I listed six but one is a Squier Jaguar that I literally never play and another is an old Kamouraska classical that was my first guitar. I loaned it to a friend for a long time (like 10 years) and he really didn't take care of it, so it's in semi-retirement with some regrettable cracks and all that. My pandemic-era playing renaissance has been almost 100% J-15, though as I get better and my tastes are changing the Recording King is getting more love-- it's a better guitar than I've given it credit for in the past. The Martin is absolutely fantastic but it's a Hybrid nylon string so I don't really use it much.

I said 10, but that includes my electric guitars and basses. If it were just acoustics it would have been 4.

More than I need, not as many as I want.
