Until a couple of years ago, a Maytag washer and dryer that my wife and I bought new on a payment plan when we were first married. It went through eight different houses in four cities and three states, 27 years of marriage and 18 years of twin daughters. Of course, when they needed repairs we thought it would cost about as much as buying new and replaced them. Wish we'd had them repaired regardless of the cost. New ones contain much more plastic instead of steel, have electronics that have already caused problems, take twice as long to wash a load, and generally do not work as well as the old Maytags. The old commercials with the Maytag repairman being bored were true in our experience.

An Oster blender I bought at a swap meet in 1973 still works fine. I have a number of 38+ year old power tools (Porter Cable sanders, Hitachi skill saw, Ryobi belt sander, Makita router, and more) that are going strong, too.

Hey Bruce,
We have a 1954 Dormeyer “Siver Chef” stand mixer. It’s the only mixer we own, so it’s still used quite often. It was my wife’s grandmothers, then mother’s, and then hers. It’s still a great machine. I do most of the cooking, so I say that from experience. It sold for 52.75 in 1954. Adjusted for inflation, that equates to around 490.00 in 2019 dollars! But it was obviously built to last. Mark

Our Kenmore refrigerator. Purchased around 1986. You would think it was one of my wife's kids, doesn't want to let it go, lol

We have an upright freezer from the mid to late '60s that is working perfectly. It was given to us by my in-laws.
